The department of Patient Access has an exciting opportunity for a full-time remote Patient Benefits Advisor 2. The Patient Benefits Advisor 2, Full Time, ensures that patients have adequate insurance coverage for services received and advises patients when there are gaps in coverage to facilitate appropriate payment arrangements.

CORE FUNCTIONS
  1. Greets every individual on the phone or in person with a smile and a professional greeting.
  2. Coordinates with the scheduling department to schedule patient appointments when prior authorizations are not obtained or have been denied.
  3. Assists departments with inquiries into account status, pre-certification, eligibility, financial estimates, and policies and procedures.
  4. Ensures all patient information is secure and paperwork is disposed of appropriately to preserve confidentiality.
  5. Obtains and documents prior authorizations before services are rendered; contacts physician offices for missing patient information.
  6. Uses patient estimate tools and insurance contacts to obtain accurate out-of-pocket estimates, documents these, and generates estimate letters.
  7. Updates patient accounts with correct insurance information as needed.
  8. Submits insurance referral documentation promptly.
  9. Adheres to University and unit policies and safeguards assets.

CORE QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience
