US Radiology and American Health Imaging - Patient Authorization Coordinator

American Health Imaging is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Patient Authorization Coordinator.

This position is fully remote but requires residence within 50 miles of Dallas, Texas.

The coordinator will be responsible for obtaining insurance benefits, verifying eligibility, assisting with authorizations via phone and online, collecting accurate demographics, data entry, scheduling appointments, scanning electronic records, and performing other duties to ensure efficient, timely service to patients, families, and providers.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility, benefits, and authorization requirements via online or phone communication.
  • Calculate and provide estimates of Time of Service.
  • Initiate, track, and obtain pre-authorizations from insurance carriers within the required timeframe.
  • Apply knowledge of medical terminology and general medical office procedures, including HIPAA regulations.
  • Communicate insurance changes or trends to the team.
  • Maintain productivity levels suitable for the department.
  • Document all communications and contacts with providers and personnel following standardized documentation requirements.
  • Request clinical/medical records when necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • At least 1 year of experience in medical insurance verification and pre-certification.
  • Familiarity with online insurance verification, including deductibles and co-insurance calculations.
  • Experience with Aetna, Cigna, UHC, AIM, and Medsolutions is preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle a fast-paced environment, multitask, work under pressure, and support staff, patients, and physicians professionally and courteously.
