Job Title: Authorization Coordinator

Location: 100% Remote, must live within 45 minutes of Modesto, CA or San Jose, CA

Experience Required: Epic EMR experience

Description

The authorization coordinator is responsible for verifying patient eligibility, coordinating benefits, ensuring insurance coverage, and determining the need for prior authorization for tests, therapies, or referrals. The coordinator obtains necessary authorizations, documents in the electronic medical record, and responds to inquiries from patients and providers within turnaround standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Monitor and resolve referral/authorization orders in Epic's Referral Pool
• Ensure timeliness and accuracy of referrals by confirming CPT, ICD, HCPCS codes, provider, and place of service
• Verify insurance acceptance by the Foundation
• Obtain additional medical information from providers or office staff as needed
• Process referrals according to standard work and health plan requirements
• Research denials and submit for retro authorizations
• Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in all referrals
• Proactively identify and resolve work-related issues
