Job summary

UPMC Horizon Shenango Valley Outpatient Center in Farrell, PA is seeking a Patient Associate (Phlebotomist) to enhance the patient experience. The role supports phlebotomy, registration, EKGs, specimen collection, and seamless unit operations in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

The position offers a flex full-time schedule (28–40 hours/week), primarily daylight hours Monday–Friday with every 3rd Saturday, and opportunities to support additional locations as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Experience in patient registration and technical skills with EKGs and specimen procurement preferred.
• Medical terminology knowledge and computer experience preferred.
• Good oral and written communication skills with hospital contacts and patients of all ages.

Responsibilities

• Obtain patient consent for treatment and financial responsibility per HIPAA.
• Perform and document EKGs and procure specimens by venipuncture, swab, heelstick, and fingerstick.
• Assist with department operations, admissions, and patient flow.
• Provide directions within the facility and support billing processes.
• Maintain confidentiality and professional conduct; communicate effectively with staff and patients.
