Meritus Medical Center in Hagerstown, MD is seeking a compassionate Patient Assistance Aide to help patients move safely and maintain independence. The position offers on-site, full-time employment with a pay range of $19–$25 per hour based on experience.

You will assist with getting in and out of beds and wheelchairs, help patients ambulate, and coordinate with Nursing and Therapy departments to ensure safe patient handling. Strong instruction comprehension and time-management are essential.

Qualifications

• Must understand verbal and written instructions.
• Strong time-management and interpersonal skills are required.
• Ability to record basic information accurately.
• BLS certification to be obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Vocational NA education is preferred for this role.

• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Help Patients Move Safely and Maintain Their Independence

Meritus Health is seeking a compassionate and dependable Patient Assistance Aide to help patients move safely throughout their daily care.

In this hands-on role, you will assist patients with getting into and out of bed or a wheelchair, walking, and traveling to and from the restroom. You will work closely with Nursing, Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and other departments to provide safe, respectful, and timely assistance.

What You’ll Bring

Required

• HS Diploma or GED
• Ability to understand verbal and written instructions
• Ability to record basic information accurately
• Good time-management and interpersonal skills
• Physical, cognitive, and perceptual ability to assist with patient treatment, mobility, and equipment
• Ability to obtain Basic Life Support certification within 90 days of employment

Preferred

• Vocational education as a nursing assistant
• Experience assisting individuals with mobility

Physical Requirements

This is an active, hands-on position that requires:

• Frequent standing and walking
• Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds
• Frequent pushing and pulling of up to 50 pounds
• Safe physical assistance with patients and equipment
