Description

St. Francis is NOW HIRING! Join our Quality Assurance/Risk Management Team as our Patient Advocate!

If you are an LPN or RN looking to step out of bedside nursing but still impact patients, THIS is the position for YOU!

Working hours are Monday through Friday, normal business hours.

As the Patient Advocate, you will work to establish a mechanism for the positive resolution of customer complaints, as well as a tracking mechanism for problem identification and resolution. Ensure the hospital achieves industry-leading patient customer service and patient satisfaction.

Additionally, you will:

  1. Communicate information effectively and professionally to all involved individuals.
  2. Greet employees, physicians, and visitors pleasantly and professionally.
  3. Visit newly admitted patients daily and speak to patients and families about their experience to ensure standards are met.
  4. Visit waiting areas daily to update outpatient wait times.
  5. Conduct informal surveys during hospital stays and follow-up in writing.
  6. Coordinate with staff to resolve patient service or satisfaction issues, especially for high-risk patients.
  7. Answer calls promptly and professionally.
  8. Handle complaints and compliments with good interpersonal skills.
  9. Maintain confidentiality of all patient advocate matters.
  10. Resolve complaints immediately or refer to the Department Manager.
  11. Report findings to the Director of Risk Management regularly.
  12. Maintain current and orderly files on interactions and correspondence.
  13. Organize work proactively to ensure timely project completion.
  14. Create a supportive environment for customers, encouraging open communication.
  15. Ensure patients’ rights are respected and maintained.
  16. Serve as a liaison between patients and hospital administration.
  17. Assist with the Patient and Family Advisory Council.
  18. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Nursing, Practical Nursing Program graduate, or Bachelors in Health Science.
  • BLS certification required upon hire and ongoing.
  • ALS certification required within 6 months of hire and ongoing.
  • CPPS certification with one year of hire and ongoing.
  • Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work in stressful environments and take appropriate action.
