Job summary

Southeast Georgia Health System is seeking an on-site Registrar to support Admissions by registering patients efficiently and accurately. You will greet patients, collect demographics, verify insurance, and initiate precertifications as needed, while guiding patients on financial responsibilities.

The role emphasizes teamwork and service excellence in a culture of caring for communities served. High school diploma and prior hospital registration experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Registration in a hospital setting and experience with determining financial responsibility for medical services preferred.

Responsibilities

• Greeting incoming patients and coordinating the registration process with applicable departments.
• Creating accurate patient encounter records by collecting and entering appropriate demographics into the computer system.
• Performing phone registrations to ensure scheduled patients are processed and served in a timely manner upon their arrival.
• Verifying insurance coverage on all patients having outpatient surgery.
• Initiating insurance precertification on all inpatients out outpatients where applicable.
• Coordinating the assignment of patient beds in accordance with physician orders.
• Gathering and processing patient registration data required to meet state, federal and accreditation standards, and ensure that patients are aware of hospital policies and procedures.
• Informing patients of their estimated financial responsibility for services, and collecting the respective payment due at the time of registration or pre-registration i.e., co-pays, deductible, co-insurance, or estimate for non-covered services.
