Universal Health Services, Inc. seeks a Patient Accounts Specialist to support the Atlantic Region Central Billing Office. You will handle first-line inquiries from patients and payers, document interactions, and assist with resolving account issues.

Responsibilities include triaging inquiries, detailing interactions in the accounting system, and collaborating with facilities to ensure timely resolutions while maintaining system knowledge and strong customer service standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 1–3 years customer service experience preferred.
• Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
• Customer focused with strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task, strong 10 key data entry, and excellent written and oral communication skills are required.
• Familiarity with customer service and 1–3 years healthcare business office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Document all inquiries concerning patient accounts including patient and third party payers.
• Act as the first line of support to patients or third party payers with questions about an account or claim.
• Identify root causes and attempt to resolve.
• Document and communicate resolution in the Patient Accounting System.
• Escalate problem accounts to management for assistance and resolution.
• Clearly communicate resolution to responsible parties and guarantors.
• Respond within 24 hours to inquiries requiring research and provide status updates.
• Collaborate with facility and internal departments to investigate and resolve inquiries.
• Maintain working knowledge of the call routing system and patient accounting system.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Atlantic Region Central Billing Office (“ARCBO”) or (“CBO”) provides business office services including billing, collections, cash posting, pre-access management, variance, and customer service to our affiliated Universal Health Services hospitals.

The Atlantic Region CBO is seeking a dynamic and talented Patient Accounts Specialist.

The Patient Accounts Specialist is responsible for receiving and resolving first line inquiries over the phone and written correspondence concerning patient accounts by patients or insurance companies.

Key Responsibilities include:

• Document all internal and external inquiries concerning patient accounts including patient and third party payers.
• Act as the first line of support to patient or third party payer contacting the facility with questions concerning an account or claim.
• Root cause issues and attempt to resolve.
• Document and communicate resolution as appropriate in the Patient Accounting System.
• Escalate problem accounts to management team of department for assistance and resolution.
• Clearly communicate resolution of issues to responsible parties and or guarantors on the account.
• Respond within 24 hours to patient inquiry which requires research providing updates on the status or the resolution of their issue each step of the process.
• Work with facility and internal departments of the CBO to investigate and resolve issues associated with patient or insurance company inquiries.
• Maintain working knowledge of the call routing system and patient accounting system
• Other duties as assigned.
