SUMMARY: Follows up with insurance payers on claim resolution in a timely manner to ensure payment receipt. Documents all actions taken on patient's account within the patient accounting system, following process guidelines and flowcharts. Processes credit balances as assigned. Understands payer contracts, member co-pay, and eligibility requirements. Handles account correspondence professionally. Maintains a courteous and helpful demeanor with patients, visitors, hospital staff, and medical personnel while representing Liberty Hospital.
Required Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent.
Required Experience: Minimum one (1) year of medical insurance billing/follow-up experience within the last three (3) years.
Preferred Experience: Recent third-party payor experience, including insurance follow-up in a medical setting; skills in collections, basic computer operation, problem solving, and communication; recent hospital patient accounting experience.
Preferred Licensure/Certification/Registration: HBI Certified Patient Financial Services Specialist or equivalent.
