SMA Healthcare in Florida is recruiting a Collections Specialist to support medical billing operations. You will verify eligibility, follow up on unpaid claims, and document payment attempts in the EMR system.

The role requires clear communication with patients and insurers and timely processing of billing paperwork. Ideal candidates have experience in collections, accounts receivable, and data entry, with knowledge of billing procedures and relevant laws.

Qualifications

• Possession of a high school diploma and experience in collection, accounts receivable, and/or data entry.
• Knowledge of billing procedures and various collection techniques.
• Ability to communicate with clients and discuss overdue payments.
• Comfortable working with specific benchmarks and timelines.
• Knowledge of collection laws and regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to use various computer programs, including Microsoft Word, databases and Excel.
• Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
• Ability to plan, organize and carry out work as assigned.

Responsabilités

• Performs eligibility verification and authorizations; verifies client accounts for correct information.
• Follows up with insurance on unpaid or rejected claims and resubmits as needed.
• Enters information daily into EMR and documents payment attempts.
• Pursues appeals using payer-specific processes for timeliness.
• Completes Medicare Cost Report processes as directed.
• Communicates with UR/Insurance Specialist to complete billing paperwork accurately.
• Monitors deposits and patient payments; reconciles daily.
• Identifies posting errors and resolves patient questions about charges and payments.
• Assists in establishing payment plans for past-due accounts.
