Job summary

GBMC HealthCare in Towson, MD is seeking a Collections Specialist to manage patient and insurance balances on assigned accounts. You will follow up by phone, mail, and online systems, and utilize appropriate letters to collect co-pays, deductibles, and coinsurance.

In this role you may represent GBMC in court for collections activities and will coordinate with third party payers to resolve unpaid balances while maintaining accuracy and compliance with applicable laws.

Qualifications

• HS or GED required.
• One year administrative experience preferred.
• 6 months direct billing or collections experience preferred.
• 1 year of customer service in healthcare or insurance environment preferred.

Responsibilities

• Follow-ups on patient and insurance balances via telephone, online follow-up, and appropriate collection letters.
• Ensure secondary billing on accounts with secondary liability and follow up on unpaid balances.
• Process rejections and inquiries from third party payers, provide corrected data and resubmit bills as needed.
• Ensure late charge billing and proper posting to accounts.
• Respond to patient and third party payor inquiries/complaints via telephone, mail, and in person.
• Reconcile third party payment vouchers and ensure proper reimbursement.
