Job summary

Guidehouse seeks a Patient Account Representative for on-site training at our Birmingham, Alabama client office. After training, schedules may shift; candidate should live within 50 miles. Role involves reviewing patient accounts, handling bankruptcy notices, and confirming insurance coverage as needed.

Qualifications include a HS diploma or GED or 2 years of relevant experience, plus 0–2 years in healthcare, health insurance, or finance. IDX/EPIC/STAR/HealthQuest experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Review patient accounts to identify corrective opportunities before bad debt.
• Review bankruptcy notices to determine accounts to file with the courts.
• Confirm applicable insurance coverage or contact the patient for more information.
• Take appropriate action on accounts when corrections are required and note the account.
• Physician billing and hospital patient account review.
• Daily use of IDX and Healthquest software.
• Independently handle a variety of duties with minimal supervision.
• Other duties may be performed.

Training for this role will be Monday-Friday onsite at our client office in Birmingham, Alabama. After training, schedules will adjust. Candidate will preferably live within 50 miles of our client office.

What You Will Do:

• The Patient Account Representative will review each patient account in order to determine whether there are any corrective opportunities present before bad debt.
• The Patient Account Representative will review bankruptcy notices in order to determine whether the patient has accounts to file to the courts.
• This process may require the Representative to confirm applicable insurance coverage or contact the Patient for further information
• If corrective action is required, the Patient Account Representative will take the appropriate action and note the account
• Physician Billing and/ or Hospital patient account review
• Use of IDX and Healthquest software daily
• The representative will work independently with a variety of duties with minimal supervision.
• Other duties may be performed

What You Will Need:

• High School Diploma/GED OR 2 years of relevant experience in lieu of the education
• 0-2 years of prior relevant experience in healthcare, health insurance, or finance
• Some working knowledge of health insurance or bankruptcy/finance
