Job summary

Clay County Hospital in Flora, IL is seeking a part-time patient registration specialist to ensure timely and accurate intake and seamless handoffs to clinical departments.

You will interview patients, record demographics and financial information, verify insurance, collect patient portions at the point of service, and handle daily cash balancing, phone inquiries, and other related duties. This role emphasizes excellent customer service and attention to detail within a full benefits package.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Associate's degree is preferred.
• Healthcare experience is also preferred with strong skills in computer, Microsoft Office, Google applications, multi-line phones, self-starter, attention to details, and excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Conduct timely and accurate patient registration to enable seamless handoff to clinical departments.
• Interview patients and record accurate demographic and financial information.
• Verify insurance eligibility.
• Calculate and collect patient portion at the time of service.
• Assist with collection on patient account payments.
• Balance daily cash.
• Answer telephone calls and perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Primarily responsible for timely and accurate patient registration resulting in seamless handoff to clinical departments; interviews patient and records accurate demographic and financial information, ensures insurance eligibility, calculates and collects patient portion at the time of service; also responsible for collection on patient account payments, balancing daily cash, answering telephone calls and other duties as assigned.

This position is part-time, benefit eligible position with varying hours, Monday through Friday with rotating weekends. Starting pay begins at $18.27 and increases with experience.

Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent required, associate's degree is preferred. Healthcare experience is also preferred with a strong set of skills in the following areas: computer, Microsoft Office, Google applications, multi-line phones, self-starter, attention to details, and excellent customer service.
