Job summary

Scotland County Hospital is seeking a Patient Access Representative to serve as the first point of contact for patients and families. You will collect demographic, financial, and biographical information, verify insurance eligibility and benefits, and handle point-of-service payments.

You will also complete precertification for therapy services and assist with financial estimates while maintaining a focus on patient satisfaction and fiscal responsibility.

Qualifications

Job Summary:

The Patient Access Representative is often the first point of contact for our patients and families and therefore must represent SCH with the highest standard of customer service and compassion and perform all duties in a manner consistent with our mission and core values. This position conducts professional patient interviews in person and via phone, obtaining demographic, financial, and biographical information. The Patient Access Representative is responsible for obtaining information to appropriately bill payers, verify patient insurance eligibility, confirm benefits eligibility, collect point of service payments, and gather statistical information in compliance with federal and state regulations. This position performs duties in medical records, accounts maintenance, cash processing, mail, and data entry. This position will work primarily in the Therapy Department setting and is also cross trained to work in the hospital setting as needed; focusing on patient satisfaction as well as fiscal responsibility. This role will also hold the responsibility of completing the precertification process for therapy services as well as working up financial estimates for those patients. Will also learn to track patient plan of care and visit eligibility. Work with the therapy staff to complete daily charge reconciliations and help maintain supplies in the area.

Individuals in this role are responsible for working with team members in a collaborative manner to ensure that patient information is collected and entered into department systems with the expected outcome of meeting established organizational goals and departmental goals.
