Responsibilities

  • Oversee admitting and outpatient registration actions of the hospital, including staff scheduling and auditing registrations
  • Ensure goals set by supervisor are met and department operates within budget
  • Orient, train, and supervise all department staff and prepare timely reports
  • Maintain and analyze registrations statistics and POS collections data
  • Assist patients and visitors with account issues and payments
  • Create and maintain department schedules and ensure accurate timecards
  • Maintain quality assurance reports (QAPI) for registration errors and collections

Job description

The Patient Access Team Lead has the responsibility for the overall direction, utilization, supervision, instruction, and evaluation of the staff within the Patient Access Department; demonstrates ability to work efficiently under pressure and stress; demonstrates commitment to patient-oriented practice; possess personal qualities such as dependability, kindness, compassion, understanding and respect for people as individuals, integrity, honestly, loyalty, and sense of humor, maintaining good relationships with physicians, management, patients, visitors, and co-workers and take responsibility/ownership for own actions.

  • Responsible for the admitting and outpatient registration actions of the hospital, which include patient access staff scheduling, ensuring accuracy through auditing of all patient registrations, insurance eligibility, authorizations, required patient signatures, and pointofservice collections
  • Meet required goals set by supervisor and/or administration
  • Ensure the department operates within budget in accordance with defined standards
  • Assist supervisor or admin staff in managing policies and procedures for the department
  • Responsible for orienting, training, and the supervision of all staff within the department
  • Prepare and submit required reports on a timely basis
  • Collect, prepare, and maintain accurate statistics as required within the department
  • Recognize potential issues with staff, their assignment, and all areas of registration and pointofservice collections
  • Provide monthly reports, which may include, but are not limited to, registration statistics and point of service collections, as well as other reports as assigned
  • Completion of departmental timecards
  • Creating and maintaining Patient Access Department colleague schedule
  • Maintaining QAPI reports for registration errors and POS collections
  • Closing charge days after all charges have been entered
  • Sending itemized statements for Medicare Share of Cost Patients and updating insurance in evident after Medicaid is activated
  • Assist patients and visitors with account issues, payments, and any other support
  • Enter collection codes from debt account listings
  • All other duties as assigned
  • High School Graduate or equivalent preferred
  • Previous clerical experience, preferable in a healthcare setting
  • Proficiency in MS Word and data entry
  • Good Communication and Listening Skills
  • Must be able to speak, read and write the English language
