Job summary

Cone Health in Greensboro, NC seeks a Patient Access Lead to coordinate and supervise daily workflow for the patient access team, and to provide staffing feedback to the Patient Access Supervisor. The role requires delivering reliable staffing oversight, performance reporting, and QA processes while maintaining excellent patient service.

Schedule is Monday–Friday 11:00AM–7:30PM with every 4th weekend; requires an Associate's degree in healthcare administration or related field and at least 3

Qualifications

• Associate's degree required; 4 years of related experience accepted in lieu.
• 3 years patient access, registration, or similar healthcare administrative role.
• Certification in healthcare administration (e.g., CHAA) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Oversees daily activities of patient access area to meet department standards.
• Provides onboarding for new employees and updates staff on changes.
• Collects deposits and copays and tracks performance indicators.
• Resolves patient concerns and reports safety issues using the incident system.
• Ensures compliance with personnel policies and procedures.
• Acts as supervisor in absence of the lead and reports issues upon return.
• Delivers excellent customer service and advocates for safety and patient preferences.
• Performs additional duties as assigned.

Job description

The Patient Access Lead coordinates and supervises the daily work flow and scheduling of all patient access staff and is responsible for providing feedback on daily processes and staffing issues to the Patient Access Supervisor. Working under general supervision, this role provides staffing oversight, key performance reporting and analysis, QA process and other duties as assigned. The schedule for this position is Monday - Friday, 11:00AM - 7:30PM and every 4th weekend.

Essential Job Function

• Oversees the daily activities of the patient access area (Admission or ED) to ensure department standards are met which includes staffing levels for daily assignments and is accountable and participates in the registration workflow.
• Assists Supervisor on boarding new employees and educating staff of any changes pertinent to their roles.
• Collects deposits and copays and maintains the performance indicators as outlined in goals; completes daily required reporting.
• Assists in resolving patient concerns and demonstrates knowledge of occurrence reporting system and utilizes system to report potential safety issues.
• Assists Supervisor to ensure all personnel department policies and procedures are followed.
• Acts in capacity of supervisor in their absence and informs supervisor of all issues upon their return.
• Delivers excellent customer service utilizing Relationship Based Care to advocate for safety, patient preferences, and optimal communication through partnering with patients/families and colleagues, including all internal and external customers.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education

• Required: Associate's degree in healthcare administration, medical office administration, or related field required. 4 years of related experience accepted in lieu of degree.

Experience

• Required: 3 years patient access, registration, or a similar healthcare administrative role.

Licensure/Certification/Listing

• Preferred: Certification in healthcare administration or medical office management (e.g., Certified Healthcare Access Associate - CHAA).
