Job description

Under the direction and guidance of the Sr Manager of Operations, the Team Leader will assist with the day-to-day functions of the Admitting/ED Registration team. The Team Leader will work closely with the Patient Access Supervisors to ensure staff are appropriately trained, meet goals related to copay collection and registration accuracy, and assist with staff queries among other tasks.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  1. Review and update demographic and insurance information for admitted patients.
  2. Review admitted patient profiles and obtain notice of admission from health insurance companies.
  3. Review after-visit summaries and secure appointments for Emergency Department patients.
  4. Assist in training and development of new and existing staff.
  5. Facilitate and coordinate hospital-to-hospital transfers.
  6. Train staff on departmental procedures and workflows.
  7. Review bed requests and assign bed placements for inpatient units.
  8. Ensure the delivery of high-quality service to internal and external customers by monitoring workflows and providing quality assurance.
  9. Provide guidance and assistance to the Admitting/ED Registrar as needed.
  10. Maintain knowledge of payer rules/regulations and monitor workflows for compliance.
  11. Offer creative solutions to problems and participate in monthly department meetings.
  12. Perform all tasks assigned to an Admitting/ED Registrar.
  13. Represent the department on special projects and initiatives.
  14. Utilize the Manager to resolve issues and concerns.
  15. Participate in coverage for both Admitting and ED to address staffing needs.
  16. Collaborate with the Manager to develop and implement process improvements.
  17. Maintain effective working relationships with all internal and external customers.
  18. Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  19. Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Requires a professional, service-oriented individual with strong organizational skills, good judgment, and the ability to work independently. Strong interpersonal skills are essential. Knowledge of health insurance payer rules is a plus. Must have high school diploma or GED, with 3-5 years of experience in healthcare administration, patient access, or a related field preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Represent the Mass Eye and Ear brand by providing positive, professional interactions. Professional attire required. May require physical presence in patient care units and ability to maneuver in a fast-paced environment. High volume of telephone and face-to-face interactions. Must be prepared to work outside scheduled hours when required. As an essential employee, may be called to report during emergencies or disasters.
