Job summary

ThedaCare Medical Center Shawano is seeking a Patient Access Registrar to perform admitting duties for services at ThedaCare. You will handle MRN assignment, collect insurance information, and pre-register patients while delivering excellent customer service and accurate information.

Schedule includes 2:00pm–10:00pm shifts with every 4th weekend. This on-site role requires strong communication and compliance with department standards in a climate controlled office setting.

Qualifications

• Strong customer service orientation.
• Ability to handle phone inquiries professionally and compassionately.
• Experience with insurance verification or patient pre-registration is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assigns MRNs, performs medical necessity checks, collects insurance information, processes physician orders, and provides excellent customer service.
• Operates the telephone switchboard and handles interoffice calls per policy.
• Performs pre-registration of patient accounts, including collecting demographics, insurance data, and financial responsibilities.
• Explains consent forms and distributes patient education documents.
• Reviews insurance eligibility and enters benefit data to support billing and clean claim rate.
• Screens Medicare ABN software usage to inform patients of possible non-payment.
• Takes on additional duties as needed, including answering phones at other facilities.
