Inova Primary Care - Sterling is seeking a dedicated Patient Access Specialist to join our team. This full-time role (Mon-Fri, 8:00am-5:00pm) involves admitting and scheduling patients, verifying insurance, and providing financial counseling at Inova Health System.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Admit and schedule patients.
• Conduct insurance verifications.
• Provide financial counseling.
• Prepare schedules and track records; navigate multiple systems.
• Coordinate documentation and follow up on case-related tasks.
• Educate patients about kiosks and report usage trends.
• Coordinate with departments and tailor patient messaging; manage referrals.
• Schedule specialty visits and coordinate transport.
• Support HIM coordination and release of information as needed.
• Can include other duties as assigned.

Inova Primary Care - Sterling is looking for a dedicated Patient Access Specialist to join the team. This position is full-time, Monday-Friday, office hours 8:00am-5:00pm. As a Patient Access Specialist, you will adhere to Inova Health System's "Service Excellence" standards while admitting/scheduling patients, conducting insurance verifications and providing financial counseling.

Patient Access Specialist Job Responsibilities:

• confirms authorizations, validates, and indexes documents.
• Administrative & Technology Operations: Prepares schedules, tracks records, and navigates multiple systems efficiently.
• Case Management Tasks: Coordinates documentation and follows up on case-related tasks.
• Financial Counseling: Assesses coverage and initiates financial assistance.
• Insurance & Contract Coordination: Applies payer-specific rules, resolves issues, and identifies contract limitations.
• Inquiries & Patient Concerns: Resolves moderate concerns and tracks follow-ups with patients.
• Kiosk: Educates patients and reports usage trends on kiosks.
• Patient Communication & Advocacy: Coordinates with departments, tailors messaging, and
• Referrals: Validates insurance and tracks referral status.
• Scheduling: Schedules specialty visits and coordinates preparation.
• Transport: Coordinates special needs transport.
• Health Information Management (HIM) Coordination: Resolves minor chart issues and assists with release of information (ROI).
• Can include other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Education: High School or GED
• Experience: 1 year of patient access experience
