Job summary

The University of Miami Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is seeking a Patient Access Representative 1 (On-Site) in Miami, FL. You will register patients, verify insurance, collect payments, and guide patients through consent and HIPAA documentation.

In this full-time role, you will work with Epic and other health-system systems to ensure accurate demographics, scheduling, and a positive first-in impression for all patients and families.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to communicate effectively in written and spoken form.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
• Data entry with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Experience with basic insurance concepts and patient financial interactions.

Responsibilities

• Registers patients for clinical services and verifies insurance coverage.
• Explains Consent for Treatment, Financial Liability, and HIPAA to patients.
• Schedules follow-up appointments and manages changes or cancellations.
• Reconciles vouchers and handles payments at check-in or check-out.
• Coordinates patient flow using multiple systems to support clinic operations.
