Qualifications

• Typing 35 wpm or faster is required.
• Proficiency with PC/CRT/printer systems.
• Customer service experience is essential.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Understanding of third-party payor requirements and compliance practices preferred.
• Ability to work across multiple Patient Access service areas (e.g., Emergency Department).

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and complete full patient registration at date of service.
• Explain and secure hospital and patient legal forms (advance directives, consent, Medicare notices).
• Educate patients about financial liabilities and perform compliant collection techniques.
• Coordinate scheduling and post-discharge care as needed.
• Identify insurance benefits, verify coverage, and obtain authorizations as required.
