Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, required.
• 1 year of patient registration and insurance verification experience in health care; 2 years preferred.
• Emergency Department registration experience, strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of HMO, PPO, POS, Medicare and Medicaid plans, required.
• Basic understanding of medical terminology.
• Excellent customer service.
• MS Office knowledge (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• English fluency in both written and verbal form.

Responsibilities

• Maintain compliance with EMTALA, DNV, HIPAA and regulations in Admissions.
• Provide excellent customer service and build quality relationships.
• Answer telephone professionally, record messages and relay to staff.
• Obtain signatures on required forms and consents.
• Obtain, verify and enter demographic information for accounts.
• Verify insurance benefits and correct payor and plan in system.
• Obtain insurance authorizations as required.
• Pursue collections at service to maximize revenue cycle efficiency.
• Scan registrations and clinical docs; maintain medical records.
• Assist with patient transfers to other hospitals when needed.
• Respond to medical record requests from patients/physicians/hospitals.
• Maintain cash drawer per policies.
• Maintain logs of patients, payments, transfers and admissions.
• Maintain visitor/vendor log.
• Maintain clean facility areas (front desk, waiting room, etc.).
• Receive deliveries and forward to appropriate departments.
• Notify about malfunctioning equipment and maintenance needs.
• Attend staff meetings and company-sponsored meetings.
• Assist medical staff as needed; perform additional duties as assigned.
