Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare is seeking a Registration Specialist to facilitate system-wide patient registration. You will interview incoming patients, review pre-registration details, verify insurance, collect payments, and provide on-site assistance to ensure smooth movement through the care process.

The role requires a high school diploma, at least 1 year of technical experience, knowledge of medical terminology, and typing at 40 wpm or higher.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Identify patient and insurance information per policy.
• Review physician orders and obtain missing components or authorization.
• Coordinate with departments to secure data for billing and patient accounts.
• Identify self-pay patients (HAP), provide brochures, collect required signatures.
• Explain ABNs and obtain signatures; ensure documentation is complete.
• Perform QA on daily registrations and maintain accurate records.
• Collect ED copays; balance cash and card payments; complete shift summaries.
• Provide point-of-service assistance across service lines to facilitate patient flow.
