Job summary

Optum in Phoenix is seeking a Patient Access Specialist to be the first point of contact for patients and providers, coordinating daily registration tasks and paperwork with accuracy and care.

You will verify insurance eligibility, obtain referrals and pre-authorizations, update patient profiles, and support a smooth front-desk workflow. Training and project work are encouraged as part of a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 1+ years of customer service experience in healthcare or office settings.
• Ability to read and interpret Doctor's orders.
• Flexible schedule including Tue-Fri 9:00am–7:30pm and one weekend per month.

Responsibilities

• Verifies insurance eligibility and benefits for all accounts.
• Obtains referrals, authorizations and pre-certification information.
• Updates patient profiles and enters data accurately.
• Trains staff on computer systems and new processes.
• Supports department improvement opportunities.
