Job summary

Butler Hospital in Providence, RI, seeks a Patient Access Associate to provide efficient patient access and registration within Care New England’s system. You will verify insurance, collect demographics, and prepare billing information for both inpatient and outpatient services.

Your role includes coordinating with the Financial Counselor, scanning documents, and ensuring accurate data entry across Avatar, ERO, Teletracking, and related systems.

Qualifications

• Minimum typing speed of 40 wpm with a working knowledge of personal computers.
• Certificate of Medical Terminology and strong oral communications skills are required.
• Exceptional patient relation and customer service skills are critical.

Responsibilities

• Obtains all demographic information.
• Verifies Insurance eligibility via online resources or phone call when necessary and enters bundles in Avatar.
• Determine benefits for treatment programs and input Medicare/insurance details into Avatar and ERO field for authorization needs.
• Review registrations for accuracy and prepare files for billing.
• Review authorization requirements for inpatient admissions and inform clinical staff as needed.
• Scan and file patient insurance cards and IDs, ensuring correct episode and benefits.
• Photographs patient, create labels, and print bracelets when applicable.
• Assist Financial Counselor with patient financial responsibilities and payment plans.
