Join us as a Patient Access Specialist at Corewell Health

This part-time position (20 hours/week) supports all Registration areas at the Trenton hospital, primarily working midnights with flexibility for days and afternoons. The role involves patient registration, scheduling, insurance verification, and communication following HIPAA regulations. The shift includes rotating weekends, with mandatory orientation during the first week from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The minimum hourly rate is $18.56.

Key Responsibilities

• Register patients accurately and timely, including pre-registration and data entry.
• Answer phone calls courteously and direct them appropriately.
• Communicate effectively with patients and families, complying with HIPAA.
• Prepare patient liability estimates and prioritize tasks.
• Operate standard office equipment and systems, including Microsoft Office.
• Coordinate with physician offices for authorizations and other requirements.
• Transport and escort patients as needed.
• Inform patients of delays and follow up on missing documentation.
• Participate in safety initiatives and complete required competencies.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required: High School Diploma, knowledge of ICD-9/ICD-10 coding, medical terminology, revenue cycle, and proficiency with information systems and office software.

Preferred: 1 year of experience in customer service or healthcare.
