Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Serve as a key contact between patients, providers, pharmacies and insurers to move coverage issues forward.
• Complete and follow up on prior authorization requests and verify eligibility/benefits.
• Research coverage requirements and gather missing information as needed.
• Communicate authorization status and next steps with insurance carriers.

We’re partnering with a growing healthcare organization that is adding to its Kansas City team. They’re looking for a Patient Access Specialist who understands the insurance side of healthcare and knows how to keep things moving when coverage gets complicated.

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll serve as a key point of contact between patients, healthcare providers, pharmacies, and insurance companies to help resolve coverage issues and keep the patient access process moving.

Your day may include:

• Completing and following up on prior authorization requests
• Verifying insurance eligibility, coverage, and patient benefits
• Researching coverage requirements and identifying missing information
• Communicating with insurance carriers regarding authorization status and next steps

  What We're Looking For

  This role is best suited for someone who already understands how healthcare insurance works and doesn't get intimidated by a complicated authorization.

  Prior authorization experience is required.

  Insurance verification or benefits experience is required.

  We'd also love to see:

  • Experience within healthcare, specialty pharmacy, medical offices, hospitals, patient access, PBMs, or insurance
  • Familiarity with medication access or pharmacy benefits
  • Strong phone and written communication skills
  • Ability to navigate insurance portals and healthcare systems
  • Excellent follow-through and attention to detail
  • Confidence managing a high volume of cases
  • A patient, professional approach when dealing with challenging situations
  • Strong organization and time-management skills
