Job summary

Froedtert South in Wisconsin seeks a Patient Access Specialist to be the first contact for patients, handling scheduling, check-in/out, registration, and insurance verification to ensure smooth patient flow and accurate data entry.

This role requires a high school diploma, strong computer skills, knowledge of medical terminology, and excellent communication. Training and a team-focused environment are offered.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in healthcare or receptionist environment.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS codes.
  • Proficient with internet, email, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to organize work accurately and efficiently.
  • Experience in patient registration and insurance verification.

Responsibilities

  • Schedules, reschedules and cancels patient appointments.
  • Executes pre-arrival registration by adhering to registration standards.
  • Accurately identifies and enters patient's insurance coverage.
  • Performs check-in/check-out functions for patient appointments.
  • Collects all applicable copays, patient balances, pre-payments and self-pay payments for services.
  • Manages and resolves assigned departmental WQs.
  • Takes messages and routes via healthcare software to clinicians.
  • Performs manages care referrals and prior-authorizations functions.
  • Proficient use of healthcare software utilizing established standards.
