Essentia Health Virginia Hospital is seeking a Patient Access/Registration specialist to greet patients and guide them through the registration and checkout processes. You will collect demographics, insurance details, and financial information to provide accurate cost estimates for upcoming visits.

Responsibilities include verifying records, scheduling follow‑ups, handling payments, and supporting the clinical team while delivering compassionate service.

Qualifications

• Previous Patient Access Representative or Patient Scheduler experience.
• Completion of Healthcare Business Insight’s Patient Access 2nd Level Certification Program within six months of hire date.

Responsibilities

• Interviews patients to obtain complete demographic, financial, and health information.
• Collects insurance cards, updates records, and verifies patient information.
• Handles point‑of‑service data collection and reconciles cash deposits.
• Manages work queues and supports the clinical team as needed.
• Provides courteous, patient‑focused customer service.
• Answers calls, schedules appointments, and assists with referrals.
• Cleans and restocks equipment; performs related clerical duties.
• Other duties as assigned.
