Job summary

Pratt Regional Medical Center Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented Patient Access Representative/Switchboard Operator for the evening shift (Tuesday through Saturday) to handle patient check-in, insurance verification, and switchboard duties. This role requires accuracy, discretion, and strong communication under pressure.

The position involves managing demographics, forms, privacy practices, and coordinating with EMS and healthcare teams in emergent situations, all within hospital

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Prior patient access or medical office experience preferred but not required.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications and able to learn and utilize hospital specific software and applications as required.

Responsibilities

  • Checking patients in for appointments, hospital, and/or emergency visits with accurate demographics.
  • Verifies insurance responses and assigns primary, secondary, and tertiary coverage per encounter.
  • Handles disclosure and privacy information, secures signatures, and completes regulatory forms.
  • Posts patient account receipts according to guidelines and adheres to HIPAA and confidentiality rules.
  • Acts as switchboard operator, answers calls, and coordinates with EMS and departments in emergent codes.

Job Summary:

Checking patients in for appointments, hospital, and/or emergency room visits and accurately verifying demographics, assures all check-in procedures are completed. Reads and interprets insurance responses. Understands general guidelines and insurance rank requirement to properly assign primary, secondary, and tertiary insurance per encounter. Ensures patient receives necessary disclosure and privacy information, obtains necessary legal and financial signatures. Communicates the purpose of and completes all necessary regulatory forms with patient. Performs patient account receipt posting following department guidelines. Abides by organizational and HIPAA guidelines, privacy practices, patient confidentiality and patient rights. Must maintain high regard for confidentiality. Additionally, applicant will also answer and assist callers as the switchboard operator, communicate with EMS via radio as required, perform overhead and personal device paging, and coordinating/facilitating communication with healthcare providers and departments in emergent situations or codes. Successful applicants must be: detail oriented, able to successfully multi-task in stressful situations, and communicate clearly and effectively. Work is performed in an office environment. The Patient Access Representative/Switchboard Operator for evening shift work schedule will be Tuesday thru Saturday.

Job Qualifications:
