Job Summary

The Patient Access Senior Representative demonstrates strong customer service orientation while handling all business functions in an assigned area, including reception, scheduling, and registering patients for appointments and/or procedures.

Responsibilities
  1. Greet patients, secure appropriate patient information, and ensure registration data accuracy.
  2. Validate insurance eligibility, enter information into systems, and collect co-payments (if applicable).
  3. Assist with financial counseling and financial clearance as necessary.
  4. Perform all aspects of the Patient Access Representative position as needed.
  5. Train and orient new hires to the service area.
  6. Notify supervisor immediately of any policy or procedure violations.
  7. Provide cross-coverage for all Patient Access functions within the department and/or clinic.
  8. Work independently to accomplish routine activities.
  9. May be required to work off-shifts, weekends, and holidays depending on the area.
Qualifications
  • Experience REQUIRED: Minimum of one (1) year of patient scheduling/registration experience in healthcare.
  • Education REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Preferred Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in related fields.
  • Strong customer service skills and patient-centered focus.
  • Ability to cross-cover all patient access functions and work in a self-directed manner.
  • Responsible for training new team members.
Additional Requirements
  • May involve contact with medications and supplies.
  • Physical: Lifting less than 20 lbs, prolonged sitting, walking.
  • Mental/Sensory: Strong recall, reasoning, problem-solving, hearing, clear speech, reading, logical thinking.
  • Emotional: Ability to handle a fast-paced environment and adapt to change.
