Qualifications

Patient Registration Representative

Job Summary

The Patient Registration Representative serves as the initial point of contact for patients, providing high level customer service while facilitating accurate and timely completion of registration and verifying patient accounts for inpatient and outpatient billing, maximizing payment for Hospital and Clinic services.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate accurate completion of patient registration and distribute necessary paperwork for patient care.
• Review and verify all payment methods (insurance, self‑pay, agency) and patient/insurance information.
• Work with patients to set up payment arrangements and apply for assistance programs.
• Collect copayments and deductibles, and resolve basic billing inquiries.
• Operate equipment including computers, printers, fax machines, multi‑line phone system, and other registration devices.
• Collaborate with physicians and nurses to provide optimal ambulatory health care.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with two years of administrative experience, or associate’s degree with one year of medical experience, or bachelor’s degree (preferred).
• Typing speed of 25 words per minute and computer proficiency.
• Knowledge of EPIC, medical terminology, and insurance preferred.
• Strong communication skills for in‑person and telephone interactions.
• Ability to perform basic physical duties such as standing, walking, sitting, lifting up to 50lbs, and using a multi‑line phone system.
