Medical University of South Carolina seeks an experienced front desk administrative professional to greet patients, manage the clinic appointment line, and maintain patient accounts. You will collect co-pays, register patients, and coordinate interpreter services to ensure smooth clinic operations.
The role emphasizes excellent customer service, accurate documentation, and collaboration with medical staff to optimize patient experience. 40-hour work weeks with hourly pay and MUHA affiliation.
Greets and welcomes patients and families in person or on the telephone. Optimizes the patients’ experience and clinic efficiency time by scheduling appointments appropriately, either by phone or in person. Maintains patient accounts by obtaining, recording, and updating personal and financial information accurately and effectively. Collects Co-pays and prior patient balances. Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information. Position also involves customer service, message distribution, ancillary scheduling and referrals management. Ability to interact with medical professionals and other care team members from diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Provide administrative coverage at the front desk including monitoring the clinic appointment line to include scheduling appointments for clients from outside medical, hospital, correction systems. Answer multiline telephones. Take payments from clients for clinical services. Complete client registration, and documentation. Schedule interpreters for clients. Retrieve billing charges.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university; or a high school diploma or equivalent (GED) and two years of work experience in a Medical Office, Call Center, and/or customer service business environment and a minimum of 6 months satisfactory work experience in MUHA Patient Access, or at least 6 months of medical related work experience is required.
