Job Summary

LOCATION : Atlanta, GA

STATUS : FTE

SCHEDULE : 7pm-5:30pm

Patient Access Representative is responsible for the intake and patient registration process. Conducts accurate patient interviews, schedules appointment, enters correct patient demographics, verifies third party payers' information, accurately posts charges when applicable, calculates the amounts due from the patient FPL's at POS, and balances and deposits daily collections. Performing these duties accurately and efficiently is critical to optimizing the hospital revenue. Performs multi-task clinic duties to ensure efficiency in daily operations. Performs all duties in accordance with all regulatory guidelines and the Grady Health System's vision, mission, philosophy, policies and procedures, while focusing on Excellence Customer Service.

Accurately identifies patients during the check-in/arrival process, promoting patient safety and preventing duplicate patient record creation in the hospital's information systems.

Calculates the amounts due from the patient and performs point-of-service payment collections.

Ensures each patient has presented identification of Certificate of Identification and signs an Authorization of Treatment.

Enters patient demographic information into the hospital's information system in line with department accuracy standards.

Appropriately identifies, adds and verifies insurance information on patient accounts.

Explains and obtains signatures for consents, other required documents and adheres to regulatory requirements and department-specific procedures.

Accurately schedules patient appointments.

Verifies patient financial responsibility including deductibles, co-insurance, and co-payments by reviewing the patient FPL's (Federal Poverty Level) status for self pay via insurance cards, and on-line software.

Accurately performs the Filing Order functions in accordance with the birthday/gender rule and other third party payer requirements and any applicable comments within the Epic System.

Conducts accurate patient Interviews.

Verifies third party payer information and obtains authorizations/pre-certifications.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Must be able to accurately types 30 - 35 WPM and possess knowledge of basic computer software, e.g., Word and Excel.
