Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal skills for patient interactions.
• Comfortable with computer use and general office software.
• Knowledge of medical terminology; healthcare experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required from an accredited school.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a professional image and excellent customer relations with patients, visitors, physicians, and staff.
• Interviews patients or responsible party to collect information and verify identity.
• Assists with insurance eligibility, plan benefits, and authorization status.
• Generates pre-service estimates, explains patient liability, and discusses payment options.
• Transcribes and validates orders and schedules walk-in appointments.
• Encourages patient engagement and activation of MyChart where applicable.
• Monitors surroundings to ensure a positive registration experience.
• Provides wayfinding assistance and connects patients to care.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

• Maintains a professional image and exhibits excellent customer relations to patients, visitors, physicians, and co-workers in accordance with Service Excellence Standards and Core Values. Requires a high level of public contact and excellent interpersonal skills.
• Interviews patients or responsible party to obtain personal, demographic, insurance, and medical information prior to services. Confirms and manages patient identity. Understands compliance requirements and assists with completion of required forms.
• Correctly assigns insurance coverages based on eligibility responses. Explains plan benefits, authorization status, and medical necessity.
• Creates a transparent financial experience including generation of an estimate preservice, explains patient liability, and collects prepayments and outstanding balances. Offers information on payment plans and Compassionate Care when appropriate.
• Correctly transcribes and validates orders, as well as schedules walk-in appointments.
• Advocates for patient engagement, including activation of MyChart.
• Monitors environment and attends to patients, families and visitor's needs in an effort to create a positive, expeditious registration experience.
• Assists with wayfinding and connecting patient to care.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
