Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED preferred.
• Proficient interpersonal and communication skills.
• Basic data entry and computer skills (Microsoft Office).
• Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
• Prior healthcare, medical office, or insurance experience preferred.
• If applicable, minimum 2 years experience in a call center environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a professional image and excellent customer relations per Service Excellence Standards.
• Obtain information for hospital/physician records, billing and third-party payer needs.
• Enter accurate patient information into the electronic health record.
• Maintain confidentiality of patient information and comply with HIPAA regulations.
• Transcribe and validate patient orders accurately.
• Schedule, re-schedule, and cancel appointments in the electronic health record.
• Verify insurance coverages based on eligibility responses.
• Explain patient liability and collect prepayments and/or outstanding balances.
• Monitor and resolve errors in assigned workqueues.
• Advocate for patient engagement, including activation of MyChart.
• Assist with KPI measurement and productivity thresholds.
• Assist with wayfinding and connecting patient to care.
• Support the Patient Access Supervisor with special projects as needed.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

• Obtains required information for hospital and physician records, governmental requirements, billing and third-party payer needs.
• Enters accurate patient information into the electronic health record.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient information and complies with HIPAA regulations.
• Correctly transcribes and validates patient orders.
• Schedule, re-schedule, and cancel appointments in the electronic health record at the request of the patient, receiving department or ordering provider.
• Verifies and correctly assigns insurance coverages based on eligibility responses.
• Creates a transparent financial experience including generation of estimate, explains patient liability, and collects prepayments and/or outstanding balances.
• Monitors and resolves errors in assigned workqueues.
• Advocates for patient engagement, including activation of MyChart.
• Fundamental understanding of KPI’s and thresholds to measure productivity.
• Assists with wayfinding and connecting patient to care.
• Supports the Patient Access Supervisor with special projects as needed.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.

Works Schedule

64 Hours bi-weekly
