Job summary

Sanford Health in Bismarck, ND is seeking a full-time Patient Access Representative to greet patients, verify demographics, and schedule appointments in a busy clinic environment. You will act as first contact, deliver friendly service, and help patients navigate registration and financial basics.

Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm, with no weekends or holidays. A high school diploma and strong customer service skills are required, with medical office experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office.
• Six months' customer service experience desired.
• May require BLS certification depending on location.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and verify demographics.
• Create, scan, and route documents or forms.
• Inform patients about documents and obtain signatures.
• Establish financial responsibility and assist with arrangements.
• Collect co-payments and payments on account.
• Coordinate scheduling with nursing team and providers.
• Handle referrals, pre-authorizations, and telemedicine appointments.
• Answer multi-line phone and support front-desk tasks.

Join our fast-paced Bismarck Call Center working alongside a team of six Patient Access Representatives!

Responsibilities include taking incoming calls for multiple clinics to schedule and reschedule patient appointments as necessary.

Hours include Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm (no shifts on weekends or recognized holidays).

Job Description

REGISTRATION

• Greet patients & verifies demographics
• Creating, scanning & routing documents or electronic forms
• Inform patients what the document is & capture signatures on necessary paperwork
• Establishes and assigns financial responsibility and assists with arrangements while adhering to appropriate policies and procedures
• Collects co-payments, pre-payments, and payments on account balances
• May work through the registration work queue to address and resolve registration errors or denied insurance claims

SCHEDULING

• Work with nursing team & providers to coordinate & schedule appointments to meet patient's needs, coordinate provider schedule
• Obtain and coordinate referrals & conduct pre-authorization
• Arrange interpreter services
• Check patients in/out
• Operate multi-line phone
• May resolve work queue issues, manage recall and waitlists, & serve as switchboard operator calling codes and paging providers

ADDITIONAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE

• Preparation & coordination of charts
• Organize supporting provider documents
• Initiation & collaboration of patient financial assistanceTrack patient visits & health information management on patient accounts
• Compile, distribute, administer, and score assessments
• Coordination of Telemed appointments
• Reminder calls for appointments
• Hospital admission
• Office duties, such as make copies or send faxes

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Post-secondary education helpful.
• One year of work experience, preferably in a medical office setting. Medical terminology helpful; customer service skills essential. Six months' customer service experience desired.
• May require BLS for certain locations and/or settings.
