Job summary

UnityPoint Health’s Marshalltown Hospital seeks a part-time Patient Access Representative to support patient admissions, registrations, insurance verifications and scheduling. Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of customer service OR healthcare related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately collect, analyze, and record demographic, insurance, financial, and clinical data in the system.
  • Maintain strong knowledge of insurance plans and verification processes.
  • Answer and route phone calls professionally; take accurate messages.
  • Educate patients on financial obligations, including POS collections and estimates.
  • Assist with patient self-service registration processes.
  • Monitor and manage multiple work queues to ensure timely workflow.
  • Refer patients who need financial assistance to a Financial Advocate.
  • Schedule walk-in procedures and collaborate with central scheduling.

Shift: Part-Time | Every other Tuesday 1:30PM-5:30PM, every other weekend 6:30P-7:00A, rotating holidays

The Patient Access Representative NE is responsible for facilitating patient admission, registration, insurance verification, and scheduling, ensuring accuracy and efficiency in the registration process. The role addresses patient inquiries and manages patient wayfinding. The role also supports administrative tasks and ensures compliance with financial and insurance procedures.

  • Assist with patient selfservice registration processes.
  • Monitor and manage multiple work queues to ensure timely workflow.
  • Refer patients who need financial assistance with their clinic/hospital bills to a Financial Advocate
  • Schedule walk in procedures and collaborate with central scheduling regarding other needs
Qualifications

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

  • Two (2) years of customer service OR healthcare related experience preferred.
