Job summary

Crouse Hospital Auxiliary, Inc. in Syracuse, NY is seeking a part-time Patient Access Representative for evening and night shifts (3:00pm–11:30pm, 11:30pm–7:00am) with rotating weekends and holidays.

The role involves interviewing patients, validating insurance, and collecting payments in a fast-paced setting. Requirements include a high school diploma and 6 months to 1 year of office experience; a 75%+ Patient Access test is required.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Interview patients and/or family members and accurately enter demographic and insurance information into the hospital financial system.
• Routinely verify eligibility and insurance for all payors and ensure pre-certification and authorizations are completed with accuracy.
• Determine need for patient financial counseling and direct to appropriate department for assistance.
• Inform patients of estimated self-pay amounts and collect co-pays/deductibles/deposits in a timely manner.
• Routinely review HIPAA regulations to maintain competency and ensure compliance.
• Educate patients and families on forms required prior to hospital treatment and verify understanding.
• Coordinate incoming requests for patient scheduling as directed by department leadership.

Pay Range

$19.89-31.85 / hour based on verified experience

Patient Access Representative Position Responsibilities

• Effectively interviews patients and/or family members and accurately enters patient demographic and insurance information into hospital financial system.
• Routinely performs eligibility and insurance verification of all insurance payors and ensures all pre-certification and authorization requirements are completed with the highest level of accuracy.
• Proficiently determines the need for patient financial counseling and directs patient to appropriate department for assistance in a courteous manner.
• Professionally informs patient of estimated self-pay amounts and collects co-pays/deductibles/deposits in an organized and timely manner.
• Routinely reviews HIPAA regulations to maintain competency and ensure compliance at all times.
• Provides education to patients and family members on the meaning of all forms required prior to obtaining hospital treatment to ensure full completion and verifies patient understanding.
• Proficiently manages and coordinates incoming requests for patient scheduling, as directed by department leadership.

Patient Access Representative Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 months- 1 year of fast paced office experience. Must have the ability to prioritize and multitask while being attentive to detail with strong administrative skills. Must have exceptional customer service and time management skills, be compassionate and patient.
• Must pass a Patient Access test with a score of 75% or higher, administered by Human Resources
