Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, NY is seeking a part-time Patient Access Representative for evenings and nights (3:00pm-11:30pm; 11:30pm-7:00am). The role involves patient interviews, insurance verification, and scheduling coordination to ensure accurate registration across service points.

The position requires a high school diploma, 6 months to 1 year of fast-paced office experience, and a test score of at least 75% on the Patient Access assessment. Rotating weekends and holidays are included.

Responsibilities

• Interview patients and family members and accurately enter demographic and insurance information into the hospital system.
• Verify eligibility and insurance for all payors and ensure pre-certifications and authorizations are completed accurately.
• Determine need for patient financial counseling and direct to the appropriate department.
• Explain estimated self-pay amounts and collect co-pays/deductibles/deposits in a timely manner.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance and educate patients on forms required before treatment.
• Coordinate incoming requests for patient scheduling as directed by leadership.

Schedule:

Part Time, Evening & Night Shift, 3:00pm-11:30pm, 11:30pm-7:00am.This position will includerotating weekends, holidays, and other shifts assigned.

Pay Range:

$19.89-31.85 / hour based on verified experience

Patient Access Representative Position Responsibilities:

• Effectively interviews patients and/or family members and accurately enters patient demographic and insurance information into hospital financial system.
• Routinely performs eligibility and insurance verification of all insurance payors and ensures all pre-certification and authorization requirements are completed with the highest level of accuracy.
• Proficiently determines the need for patient financial counseling and directs patient to appropriate department for assistance in a courteous manner.
• Professionally informs patient of estimated self-pay amounts and collects co-pays/deductibles/deposits in an organized and timely manner.
• Routinely reviews HIPAA regulations to maintain competency and ensure compliance at all times.
• Provides education to patients and family members on the meaning of all forms required prior to obtaining hospital treatment to ensure full completion and verifies patient understanding.
• Proficiently manages and coordinates incoming requests for patient scheduling, as directed by department leadership.

Patient Access Representative Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of 6 months- 1 year of fast paced office experience. Must have the ability to prioritize and multitask while being attentive to detail with strong administrative skills. Must have exceptional customer service and time management skills, be compassionate and patient.
• Must pass a Patient Access test with a score of 75% or higher, administered by Human Resources
