Job description

We’re seeking a Patient Access Representative to join the team at Texas Children’s Hospital, ranked as the best children’s hospital in Texas and among the top in the nation. In this role, you will ensure timely and accurate patient registration, serving as a liaison among patients, families, payers, and healthcare team members. You will facilitate patient tracking and billing by obtaining and verifying demographic information, securing payments, and collecting out-of-pocket responsibilities to maximize reimbursements. Compliance with EMTALA, The Joint Commission, and other regulations is essential. Additionally, you will identify patients eligible for government resources or charity programs and refer them to financial counseling.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

1. Obtain, verify, and accurately enter demographic information to facilitate smooth revenue cycle processing.
2. Search the system thoroughly to find existing medical records, avoiding duplicates.
3. Ensure demographic data is complete and correct, following hospital protocols.
4. Monitor and work assigned work queues daily to secure all account elements for billing.
5. Financially secure patient accounts to maximize hospital reimbursement in a customer-friendly manner.
6. Pursue collections at the time of service to improve efficiency and accuracy.
7. Maintain complete and compliant documentation for each visit.
8. Support process improvements through data collection, customer service, and departmental evaluations.

Skills & Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Preferred 6 months of experience as an admissions representative or counselor.
• Associate or bachelor's degree may substitute for experience.
