Job description

Job Responsibilities
  1. To greet patients, visitors and representatives to the center, directing them to the appropriate office/destination.
  2. Register patients for their scheduled appointments, collecting and verifying demographic and insurance information.
  3. Scan driver license or photo ID and insurance card into electronic medical record software.
  4. Collect payment portion of the visit that the patient is financially responsible for.
  5. Have the patient sign the Patient Responsibility Agreement when needed.
  6. Distribute and secure signatures for required consent forms for treatment, offer Advanced Directives, Notice of Privacy Practices and Patient Bill of Rights.
  7. Verify insurance eligibility and secure signature on appropriate insurance forms as needed.
  8. Initiate encounter form for the patient’s visit.
  9. Answer incoming phone calls, transfer patient calls where needed and schedule appointments as appropriate.
  10. Post charges on patient account and record all payments collected on the designated form.
  11. Close daily journal and balance receipts to payments received.
  12. Reconcile cash drawer/money bag.
  13. Scan all patient documents as instructed.
  14. Take notice of excessive wait times and notify the Nurse Manager.
  15. Notify triage nurses of any emergencies or nurse‑related questions that patients have; transport walk‑ins/emergencies to appropriate areas if needed.
  16. Make certain the waiting areas are neat and clean.
  17. Print schedules three days in advance.
  18. Be flexible to organizational needs across the ConnextCare network.
  19. Engage in Patient‑Centered Medical Home initiatives, including participating as part of the Clinical Care Team.
  20. Other duties and responsibilities as requested by management and supervision.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or GED.
  • Verbal and written communication skills; office applications preferred.
  • Demonstrate proper judgment and decision‑making skills when necessary.
  • Comply with the organization’s code of conduct, safety rules, and all company policies.
  • Carry out job responsibilities in an ethical, effective, and professional manner.
  • Be willing and demonstrate the ability to cooperate, work, and communicate with coworkers and supervisors.
  • Demonstrate computer proficiency with Microsoft Suite and electronic medical record system.
  • Accept direction from providers and supervisors; work well and with compassion in stressful situations; maintain a professional and courteous demeanor with both patients and co‑workers; be keenly aware of the importance of confidentiality in all aspects of the position.
  • Possess the ability to firmly pursue payments on account.
