St. Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, PA seeks a Patient Access Representative to greet, pre-register and register patients, verify insurance benefits and coordinate necessary authorizations.

This role supports outpatient, ER and inpatient registrations, ensuring accurate patient data and timely submission of encounters. The position requires a HS diploma, with an associate degree preferred, and at least one year in insurance verification and hospital customer service.

Qualifications

• Minimum one year experience in insurance verification and hospital customer service.
• HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA required within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greet, pre-register and register patients in a courteous, professional manner.
• Verify insurance benefits and assess need for pre-certification/authorization/referral.
• Perform medical necessity checks where needed and secure patient signatures.
• Coordinate timely submission of encounters and communicate revenue cycle issues.
• Rotate through various areas of Patient Access and support multiple shifts.
• Provide professional, quality customer service and resolution of patient issues.

Location: St. Mary Medical Center - Langhorne, PA

Position Purpose

The primary function of the position is to greet, pre-register and/or register patients in a courteous and professional manner, verify insurance benefits and check for the necessity of pre-certification, authorization and referral. Perform medical necessity checks where needed. Secure patient signatures for required hospital forms and collection of patient’s financial responsibility when required. The position is also responsible for providing professional, quality customer service, timely resolution to customer problems, and coordination of services to all customers. The position functions to communicate revenue cycle related issues to patients, physicians, physician office staff and other hospital colleagues. This position rotates into various areas of patient access and may work a variety of shifts.

The PAR I performs outpatient, emergency room and / or inpatient registration functions. Provides general information to hospital colleagues, patients and families and ensures that patients meet financial requirements. Obtains accurate patient demographic and insurance information to provide timely submission of all encounters as well as provides excellent patient focused customer service. Communicates effectively to service delivery areas to maximize patient flow and customer service.
