Job summary

Humboldt County Memorial Hospital seeks a Full-time Patient Access Representative for registration in the Business Office/Reception Area. The role includes five 8-hour shifts (8:00 AM–4:30 PM) with every 7th weekend (7:30 AM–3:30 PM) and rotating holidays.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, collecting insurance data, maintaining records, and assisting with billing. Requires a High School Diploma and at least 6 months healthcare experience.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Greets patients and their caregivers and records pertinent information into a computer database.
• Records insurance information and obtains copies of the patient’s insurance cards and photo ID.
• Collecting information such as patient details, medical history, billing, and insurance information.
• Informing patients and their caregivers of hospital procedures, policies, and protocols.
• Relays information between patients and other staff members and provides updates as needed.
• Keeps paper and electronic medical records up to date.
• Provides information to insurance companies to assist with billing.
• Calculates payment information, accepts funds, and credits accounts accordingly.
• Dealing with patient questions, concerns, and issues.

Job description

Full-time Patient Access Rep for HCMH registration in the Business Office/Reception Area. This position is scheduled (5) five, 8-hour shifts, primarily 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, but other 8 hour scheduled shifts may vary. Monday thru Friday and every 7th weekend (7:30 AM - 3:30 PM). Rotating holidays.

Full-time benefits include: IPERS, Health, Vision, Dental, Life Insurance, and Long-Term Disability. PTO accrual begins on the first day of employment.

Position Description

A patient access representative processes the information required for admittance, dismissal, and insurance billing. The patient access works closely with the multiple departments including the Lab department, radiology department, emergency room, and all of the clinics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities of a Patient Access Representative:

• Greets patients and their caregivers and records pertinent information into a computer database
• Records insurance information and obtains copies of the patient’s insurance cards and photo ID
• Collecting information such as patient details, medical history, billing, and insurance information., etc
• Informing patients and their caregivers of hospital procedures, policies, and protocols

Education and Experience:

• High School Diploma
• At least 6 months experience in a healthcare setting, but willing to train the right individual
