Job summary

Arnot Ogden Medical Center is seeking a Patient Access Representative to register patients, verify insurance and demographics, and handle point-of-service collections. You will ensure compliance, accuracy, and smooth scheduling while coordinating with departments for precertification and bed management.

The role requires a high school diploma, basic computer skills, and CPR within 90 days. Per diem schedule with diverse shifts supports patient access services at the facility.

Responsibilities

• Register patients accurately with regulatory and functional knowledge for all patient types.
• Distribute patient materials and obtain signatures on consents, financial forms and charity applications when applicable.
• Collect co-pays and report them; refer to financial assistance as needed; end-of-day cash out and mandatory documentation.
• Enter orders ( Observation, Lab, Radiology, Therapy, Physician Services) and reconcile with departments to ensure revenue integrity.
• Acquire precertification status for applicable services and coordinate bed usage with Nursing/Designee.
• Coordinate centralized scheduling and ensure departments/physicians have the relevant information to maximize capacity.

**Summary:**Responsible for the registration of all patients' accessing services at System with emphasis on patient access/satisfaction, insurance/demographic verification and accuracy, and point of service collection, while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism and ethics continuously.**Responsibilities:*** Is responsible for accurate registration of all System patient's while maintaining regulatory and functional knowledge of all information required to register patient types in database which ensures timely & accurate reporting/billing.* Is responsible for distribution of patient related materials and obtaining patient or designee's signature on all necessary consents, permits, financial forms, as well as charity application, when applicable.* Is responsible for collection of patient owed cost sharing amounts (copays, deductibles, coinsurance, full costs {non-covered/self-pay}) in accordance with Service Standards as well as referring patient to financial assistance department, when applicable. End of day cash out procedure applies. Documentation of all collection of co-pays is mandatory.* Is responsible for order entry, including but not limited to Observation, Laboratory, Radiology, Therapy and/or Physicians services as applicable to assigned area. Proper reconciliation of appropriate ordered services may require contact with applicable department. Reconciliation is required to be conducted timely & accurately with zero lose in revenue to System.* Is responsible for acquiring precertification status on all applicable services, such as Same Day Surgery Accounts, Outpatient Radiology & Cardiology Tests, and/or Physician Services, or Pharmacy Services.* Coordinates with Nursing Services/Designee the efficient use of available beds, including inpatient, observation and skilled, while adhering to appropriate registration/order entry standards.* Coordinates centralized scheduling for System using applicable databases. Ensures proper department/physician has relative information and assists with maximizing schedule capacity.**Minimum Qualifications:*** High school diploma or equivalent experience* Experience with computer applications**Preferred Qualifications:*** A minimum of six months prior healthcare, finance, collection or billing experience* Six months to one year desired, preferably in a healthcare setting* Medical terminology and coding experience beneficial.**Required Licensure/Certifications:**Provider CPR required within 90 days of hire date.**Physical Requirements:**Light physical activity. Emergency room environment (as applicable).
