Qualifications

• BLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers.
• Experience in using EMR systems, insurance verification, eligibility, and electronic billing.
• Requires knowledge of health insurance plans and interpretation of benefits.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Experience in a customer support role.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Deliver a dynamic customer experience to all customers and demonstrate a strong commitment to service excellence.
• Obtain demographic, insurance, and medical information to ensure accurate registration.
• Perform insurance verification, data collection and documentation.
• Maintain proper documentation in all systems.
• Identify patient financial responsibilities and collect applicable monies.
• Act as liaison to internal and external customers to facilitate access to hospital services.
• Secure all necessary documentation to register the patients visit.
• Process authorizations electronically, using payer portals, fax, or telephone with payers.
• Provide coverage for co-workers when needed.
• Answer telephone and direct calls; document messages.
• Communicate needs of physicians and staff for documentation for proper reimbursement.
• Check data for errors and educate team members on findings.
• Adhere to Medicare/Medicaid and managed care requirements.
• Run daily updates and insurance exception reports.
• Complete end-of-day responsibilities.
