Job summary

Terrebonne General Health System is seeking a Patient Access Representative to register patients, collect accurate demographic and insurance information, and verify eligibility at the point of entry.

You will collaborate with scheduling, billing, and clinical teams to ensure smooth patient flow, explain hospital policies, and maintain confidentiality while providing outstanding customer service.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of medical terminology is preferred.
• Working knowledge of ICD and CPT coding is preferred.
• Experience in patient registration is preferred.
• Experience in an insurance or medical office setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Communicate clearly with patients, families, and staff while protecting confidentiality.
• Collect and verify patient demographic, insurance, and pre-certification data.
• Coordinate patient flow with scheduling, bed control, and nursing units.
• Explain hospital policies, consent forms, and insurance requirements.
• Share a positive attitude and collaborate with teammates.
• Resolve issues diplomatically and suggest process improvements.
• Prioritize tasks and manage high volumes of registrations.
• Perform tasks such as assigning rooms and preparing charts.
• Maintain compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
