Job summary

Westchester Medical Center Health Network seeks a patient registration associate to accurately identify patients and pre-register them into the hospital information system. A High School Diploma or GED, basic medical terminology, and a minimum 30 WPM typing speed are required; healthcare experience

Qualifications

• Customer service, data entry and clerical experience required or preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Medical terminology knowledge preferred.
• Minimum typing speed of 30 WPM; Windows 95 Typing proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Prioritizes accurate identification of all patients and verifies patient identity and proper matching/creation of records.
• Gathers and records demographic and financial information to register or pre-register patients into the hospital information system.
• Maintains room/bed/location control, admissions notifications and authorization numbers with designated staff; ensures consent forms are signed and filed.
• Maintains knowledge of insurance regulations, payor billing sequences, documentation of prescription orders and physician assignments; verifies insurance and documents thoroughly.
• Explains copay/deductible responsibilities and provides required consent and compliance documents to patients.
• Recognizes and analyzes customer needs and expectations, accommodating patients and families for efficient registrations with high service levels.
• Promotes professionalism and coordination with other departments, staff and clinicians to enhance patient services; maintains proper communication across shifts.
• Adheres to dress code and maintains a professional appearance and attitude.
