Job summary

Indiana University Health System Hartford City is seeking an organized office/clerical professional to manage patient check-in and check-out, verify forms and insurance, and support scheduling. You will greet patients, collect information, and guide them through the billing process with accuracy and empathy.

This role requires basic MS Office skills, a high school diploma, and the ability to learn ICD-10/CPT coding.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• BLS certification through the AHA preferred.
• 1–2 years of relevant health care experience preferred.
• Ability to learn and retain medical coding; ICD-10; CPT coding experience preferred.
• Ability to interpret insurance information; knowledge of clinical practices and medical terminology preferred.
• Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Responsibilities

• Checking patients in/out.
• Verifying forms and insurance.
• Scheduling appointments and interviewing patients for appropriate medical information.
• Explains charges and policies of the department/hospital.
• Validates and enters charges into appropriate systems, and collects necessary payment.
• Answers incoming calls and directs patients and visitors appropriately.
