Job summary

University Medical Center of El Paso is seeking a Registrar Scheduler for the UMCEPH Pain and Spine Center to manage patient flow, schedule consultations, and register patients, ensuring accurate data and billing readiness. The role involves verifying insurance, obtaining pre-authorizations, and delivering courteous service in a fast-paced clinic.

One year of scheduling experience is required; a HS diploma is required; CHAA is preferred.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in scheduling or patient access in a hospital or clinic setting is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate’s degree preferred.
• Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) preferred.
• Training or educational background with medical terminology and ICD coding preferred.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with interruptions.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patients for consultations, procedures and tests as needed.
• Register patients and enter demographic and insurance information, and other pertinent data.
• Verify insurance via electronic system and obtain pre-certifications/authorizations.
• Ensure accurate billing information to support services rendered.
• Provide friendly greeting and professional customer service to patients and associates.
